Scaevity

Today I learned about Save the Words, which is an online movement to reuse words that are dying have died from our language.  If you're interested in vocabulary, it's a fun website to take a look at.

If you're feeling charitable, you can even adopt a word and promise to use it more frequently in your daily life and correspondence.  I adopted "scaevity", which means "unluckiness".  However, we don't really use the word "unluckiness" either, so you might want to think of it as "misfortune".

For example, "A series of unfortunate events caused me to realize the scaevity that has been surrounding my life recently."  Or, "If you find a penny and pick it tails side up, you'll have scaevity all day."

Check out the site and enjoy some of the words that once were, and may some day come into usage again.
